School show: Students at ODCVI present Our Town April 4-5 in the small gym. Show time is 7 p.m. and tickets are $12 adults and $8 students. They are available at the main office and at the door.

Auditions: Sunshine and Company auditions are slated for April 5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the opera house studio theatre. Those performers who didn’t submit resumes and pictures in advance of the session are still invited to attend and add their names to the list, organizers said.

Shelter sale: A garage sale in support of the Comfy Inn Cat Shelter will be held April 5, from 8 a.m. to noon, at the Sally Ann auditorium at 157 Coldwater Rd. Donations of used items are welcome. Call Barb at 323-9570 or Maureen at 327-5697.

Ganaraska hikes: The Ganaraksa hiking club has released its spring schedule. Saturday morning hikes begin April 5, with participants  meeting at 9 a.m. at Willow Court for a short, easy hike. Meet at 8:30 a.m. for a more challenging hike. On April 12, meet at the same location, at 9 p.m.

On April 19, members will participate in an Earth Day cleanup. Meet behind Pizza Hut at 9:30 a.m.. On April 26, a medium-difficulty hike is planned around Hardy Lake. Meet at Willow Court at 9 a.m.

Ramara soccer: Registration for the upcoming Ramara Youth Soccer League is now subject to a late fee. Visit the website for more information.

Spring luncheon: The Youth and Performing Arts Spring Luncheon will be held April 7 at the Best Western Mariposa Inn and Conference Centre. Registration is at 11:30 a.m. and admission is $40 per person.  Presented by the Orillia District Chamber of Commerce, the event is in support of the Kiwanis Music Festival Scholarship Fund and the Orillia Dance Festival.

Yoga: Yoga classes are available at the Carden Recreation Centre, with the next class on April 9 at 10 a.m. Call Nora at 833-2294 for more information.

Carvers: The Carden Carvers meet April 9 at the Carden Recreation Centre at 7 p.m. All welcome. Call Wendy at 833-2046 for details.

Naturalists meet: The Carden Field Naturalists meet on April 9, with bird banding the topic of discussion. The meetins at the Carden Recreation Centre and begins at 7 p.m. Call David at 833-2571 for details.

Newcomers’ meeting: The Orillia Newcomers’ Club meets April 10, at 7 p.m., at the Doolittle Carson Reception House (57 Neywash St.). Georgette Tanzi is the scheduled guest speaker. The club also meets May 8 (same time/location). For more information, call Diane at 326-1285 or Jane at 326-3496.

Seat safety clinic: Orillia’s parks and rec building is the site of a free car seat safety clinic on April 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Experts will assess whether participants’ seats are installed correctly. Appointments are required. Call 325-9565.

Pancake supper: The Ramona Agricultural Society hosts its 26th-annual pancake supper at Ramona Hall on April 10, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. It’s all you can eat for $6.50, with proceeds helping the Ramara Fire Department. The hall is a few kilometres east of Washago on Fairgrounds Road.

Italian Dinner Night: St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church presents Italian Dinner Night on April 11, at 6:45 p.m. Tickets are $12 adults, $6 children (ages six to 12) and free for under six. Menu include lasagne, spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, garlic bread and dessert.

Home and cottage show: The Simcoe Spring Home and Cottage Show runs April 11-13 at the Barnfield Point Recreation Centre. Hours are Friday, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $3, children under 12 admitted free.

There will be special activites for youngsters and $10,000 worth of door prizes. The centre is at Highway 12 and Atherley Road.

Spring bazaar: The Warminster Legion’s Spring Bazaar is on April 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Rummage sale: A spring rummage sale will be held at St. Athanasius Anglican Church on April 12, from 8 a.m. to noon. The church is at 10 Westmount Dr. N.

Horticulture meeting: The Oro-Medonte Horticultural Society meets April 14, at 7;30 p.m., at Guthrie arena. The scheduled guest speaker is Diane Greenfield. Bring seeds to exchange and ‘lug a mug’. All welcome.

Guardian Angels: The next meeting of the Guardian Angels Catholic Women’s League is on April 14, with Mass at 7 p.m.

Orillia horticulture: The Orillia Horticultural Society meets April 17, at 7:30 p.m., at the Senior Citizens’ Centre (56 West St.). The scheduled guest speaker is Kristen Ego McPhail. All welcome.

Volunteers needed: The Orillia Chamber of Commerce is looking for volunteers to help promote the annual Perch festival at the Toronto Sportsmen’s Show. Call Brenda or Kim at 326-4424.

Spring tea: St. Andrews Presbyterian Church is the site of an Afternoon Spring Dessert Tea and Bake Sale on April 30, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door and everyone is welcome.
Fun and games: The TIE Club hosts Fun and Games on May 26, at noon.

Bring a bag lunch and a mug. The club is located at 56 West St. Call 327-1570 for more information on the group.

Grandmothers’ meeting: The Orillia chapter of Grandmothers to Grandmothers welcomes new members. Call Kathy at 835-1512.

Brechin Legion: The Brechin-Mara Legion offers a mixed darts league Fridays at 8 p.m. and a weekly meat roll on Saturdays at 4 p.m. Tuesdays see progressive euchre at 1:30 p.m. Call 426-7139.

Diabetes walk: Anyone with diabetes or pre-diabetes is invited to join a new walking program organized by Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital’s Diabetes Education Centre. Participants walk at Orillia Square Mall every Tuesday at 8 a.m. The program moves outdoors in the spring. Call 325-7611 for information.

Ready for baby: Another series of ‘Getting Ready for Baby’ classes are available for new parents. There are three sessions before the baby is born and then one meeting afterwards. For location, times and to register, call 1-877-721-7520.

River solstice: For the third straight year, the Rotary Club of Washago and Area  is celebrating the Summer Solstice. The club is proposing  a vigil for the evening of June 21, calling on residents to light candles or torches on their watecraft, properties or docks along the Severn and Black rivers.

Art festival: The first annual Art on the Severn juried art show and sale will be held in Washago July 18-20. The Washago Community Centre and an adjacent tent will host an expected 50 artists, organizers noted.
