There are always a few naysayers, but on the whole the response from the majority was ... quit talking and build the MURF.
Public input and communication are always key factors in any major municipal undertaking and we have certainly had a lot of it. However, as Mr. Dodd has noted ... talk is cheap and construction costs will increase significantly the longer the MURF project is delayed.
While I appreciate the new councillors need to get up to speed on the MURF, I hope their new eyes will see the value to the community of this project. We cannot change the past when council thought they could make a better job of it and took over this initiative from the public MURF committee.
Since then, this project has been micromanaged so badly, one wonders if there will ever be a shovel in the ground. I believe that the message from the electorate was: "It's time to get things done!"
