It is however, important to note that this problem is not exclusive to Toyota and would cover many automakers globally.

Since auto trends tend to move laterally across all sectors, meaning they all follow the same design patterns weather it be visual, technical, or electronic, many auto makers purchase technology from core design and manufacturing companies. The gas pedal assembly in Toyota vehicles is likely the same or very similar to many other vehicles on the road today.

My point is Toyota has taken the responsible route and decided to do something about it. Many, if not all, manufacturers when confronted with similar issues simply choose to ignore the outcry.

There are many examples over the years of defects with everything from turn signal and wiper switches to design flaws with transmissions or engine gaskets, ABS brakes and worse that simply get swept under the rug due to the cost of recalls.

Before car makers start beating their chests and lashing out at Toyota, they should take note at how the world’s largest car manufacturer handles a problem and protects their customers.
