Two people were taken to hospital following a collision between a passenger coach and a truck in downtown Orillia early Monday afternoon.
Investigators say the driver of a Voyageur bus and one passenger were taken to hospital after the vehicle was involved in a crash with a truck at the intersection of West Street South and Colborne Street.
While the bus appeared to have suffered minimal damage – the door of an exterior luggage compartment was pushed in – the truck fared much worse, its hood crumpled and front grill smashed in.
One bus passenger, a senior who would not give her name, said she was thrown from her seat by the force of the collision, and suffered a bump on her forehead.
“I was reading the newspaper and I didn’t see anything,” she said. “But I wound up on the floor.”
Another passenger described the collision as sounding “like a train.”
The bus is said to have contained few passengers.
