The Orillia Rowing Club recently sent members to the Central Ontario Rowing Association (CORA) Championships in St. Catharines and also the RowOntario Masters event in Welland.

Club members turned in solid results at both regattas.

The under-17 crew of Colm Shannon and Adrian Banks finished the 2,000-metre St. Catharines course in gold-medal fashion.

They finished first in their heat and were just four seconds off their personal best time of the day for the Junior Boys’ doubles in a time of 7:17.

Shannon finished fourth in his first-ever singles event.

Barb Pidgen raced the 1,000-metre Masters course at the same regatta, to finish second in the women’s 'D' single event. Pidgen competed later in the RowOntario Masters Championships in Welland, placing first and second in two events.
