When the 2008 Ontario Lacrosse Season regular season schedule was released earlier this spring, Rama Kings Junior A Lacrosse Club head coach Doug Noganosh knew the team was in for a tough start.
Over the weekend, the Kings played two of their three consecutive road games to start the regular season, suffering losses to Six Nations and Kitchener-Waterloo. Friday in Six Nations, the home team rolled out to an 8-2 lead, en route to a 15-7 win.
“With a strong team like Six Nations, you can’t give them a big lead like that and expect to win,” said Noganosh.
Caleb Wiles and Colin McDowell each scored for Rama in the opening period. Six Nations extended the lead to 14-4 after 40 minutes of play.
Devon Morrison, McDowell, Mike Holder, Dustin Leigh and Rick Acorn also scored for the Kings
Sunday in Kitchener, the hometown Braves jumped out to a 3-1 lead, en route to a 9-5 win. Austin Nieuwdorp, Wiles, Rob Pollock, Acorn and Michael Gillian notched single goals in a losing cause.
On May 16 at 7:30 p.m., the Rama Kings host Brampton in their home opener at the MASK.
