Duncan Thomson and Sheri Nicholls Thomson, received a silver cup in recognition of the special honour.

The newly renovated birthing unit at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital welcomed its first baby on Sunday, with the arrival of Quinn Thomson at 4:45 p.m.

His parents, Duncan Thomson and Sheri Nicholls Thomson, received a silver cup in recognition of the special honour.

Staff noted that the parents of the first baby born at the original Orillia hospital in 1908 also received a silver cup.
