As the 2008 Orillia Perch Festival marks its second week, cooler weather in the area has slowed down activity on both the area lakes.

“It’s been a slow day,” said a festival volunteer on Monday.

Two additional $500 tagged perch were brought ashore in recent days, bringing the 2008 total to four.

On April 25, Robert Pebble of Dunnville reeled in the tagged perch sponsored by Performance Recreation.

Meanwhile, Emilio Celsie of Orillia reeled in the $500 perch sponsored by Sunoco on April 27.

In addition to the money handed out to the lucky tag winners, daily prizes have been handed out since the start of the festival.

Winners of the Zebco Rod and Reel packages have included: Lindsay Maddison from Burlington, Terry Handrahand of Rama, Tiffany Beemer of Orillia, Andrea McRae of Innisfil, Michael Horton of Innisfil, William Jim Smith of Minden, Ryan Wiley of Orillia, Dudley Yapp of Alliston and Bailey Irving of Huntsville.

Winners of the Canadian Tire and Berkley Canada Live Release packages include: Joe Fleming of Ajax, Ross Love of Orillia, Stephen Ross of Orillia, James Howes of Orillia, Catherine Graves of Orillia, Paige Openkelder of Orillia, Maureen O’Kell of Niagara Falls, Courtney Martin of Orillia and Randall Trotter of Vaughan.

Randy Broeckel of Guelph was the winner of a Home Depot Dewalt Heavy Duty 10 inch mitre saw.

The Orillia Perch Festival continues until May 10.
