Shown left to right, Huronia Stallions players and coaches Wade Conrad, Acadia Offensive Coordinator Josh Lambert, Stallions coach Greg Van Bolderan, Tyler Honeywood, Kyle Graves, Colin Carswell, Acadia Head Coach Jeff Cummins, Brett Haenni, Derek Oliver, Mike Rostance and Taylor Shadgett all started their football careers locally. Since the late 1990’s the Huronia Stallions Football Club and Acadia University have maintained a strong relationship.

The Acadia University Axemen and the Huronia Stallions Football Program have a long and impressive relationship.

In the late 1990s former Stallions player and defensive co-ordinator Clint Uttley was a five-year starter at middle linebacker at Acadia before becoming the Axemen defensive co-ordinator. An Orillia native, Uttley was the first Stallion to attend Wolfville Nova Scotia University.

Over the years, more and more Stallion coaches and players have become an integral part of the Axemen program.

Stallions head coach Martino DiSabatino coached the offensive line at Acadia for two years. Former Stallions offensive co-ordinator Josh Lambert is now the Acadia offensive co-ordinator, after coaching stints at Marshall University and Southwest Missouri State in the NCAA.

Two-time CIS All Canadian offensive lineman Adam Rogers, a former Stallion player, is now in training camp with the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League.

Other former Stallions that played at Acadia include CIS All Canadian Nick Comly, current Stallions coach Greg Van Bolderan, Martin Pearson, Townsen Ramsey, Chris Debenedet and Peter Stephens.

Last fall, current Stallions Mike Rostance, Taylor Shadgett and Colin Carswell all dressed for the Axemen as freshmen. This fall, Stallions heading to Acadia include, quarterback Kyle Graves, fullback Brett Haenni, offensive tackle Derek Oliver, nose tackle Wade Conrad and centre Tyler Honeywood.
