The Hornets delivered a 6-3 win over the visiting Erin Shamrocks Friday on home ice in the New Tec Rec Centre.

The following night they hit the road and left Penetanguishene with a 4-3 overtime win over the Kings after coming back from a two-goal deficit in the second period.

Friday's game may have started out a little slow, but by the second period both squads turned it up a notch and displayed some razzle-dazzle style hockey that was impressive, but gave the Hornets a two-goal lead going into the third.

Brandon Tomines opened the scoring early in the first period capitalizing on a rebound and picking off the top right corner to give Erin an early lead.

Alliston's Luke Vanderhulst tied it up with a quick shot from straight out in front of the net.

The Shamrocks made good on a power play and scored to end the first period with a single goal lead.

The second period turned the game around when Alliston scored three and a strong defence kept the Erin squad from realizing any chances around the Hornets' goal.

Robbie Rutlege, Zenon Byblow, and Thomas Faris, picked up the points on the three Alliston markers.

Brett Eeles and Brandon Elliott topped the Alliston scoring picking up a goal each in the third frame.

Hornet defenceman Cole Parker said the squad came alive in the second period.

"We were looking a little shaky in the first. We started moving the puck a lot better in the second, but we played good. They (Erin) could have done a little better in the third, but they gave up. We don't let up when that happens."

After the weekend the Hornets record stands at 28-3-3 with two home games and six road games left on the regular-season schedule.

The squad travels to Schomberg on Thurs., Jan. 17, for an 8:15 p.m. game against the Cougars.

They return to home ice on Fri., Jan. 18, to host the Stayner Siskins.

The puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
